Seedling Number: Yanwo-Seedlings-2023-07. Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2020, first propagated 2023. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are medium violet-red with white petal margins, 13cm (5″) in diameter, upward facing, and average two per stem. No fragrance noted. Guard petals are flat, notched, and average 6cm (2.4″) in width. Flowers possess seven smooth, yellow-green carpels with medium violet-red, feathered stigmas. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length; yellow in color. Oblanceolate petalodes are also present, with identical coloration to that of other petals. Produces pollen, however seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 85cm (33.5″) at maturity, and carry irregularly shaped, green foliage. Foliage color at time of emergence is light red. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for the white petal edges; Under sunlight, this white edge is quite shiny, like the bright moonlight in a black night. In Chinese, “Zi” is the color name, and “yue guang” means moonlight.
